چکیده
Despite the growing impact of remote sensing technology in forest inventories globally, there is a continuous need for ground measurements on sample plots. Even though newest volume assessment methodology requires fewer plots, accuracy ground-recorded data influences final stand modeling. Therefore, effective and economically justified tools are interest foresters. In presented research, consumer-grade light detection ranging (LiDAR) sensor mounted iPad was used inventory plot collection—including tree location diameter breast height. contrast to other similar feasibility user-friendliness were also documented emphasized. The study conducted 63 real plots Polish forests. total, 776 trees scanned 3 types stands: pine, birch, oak. root mean square error 0.28 m locations 0.06 Various additional analyses performed describe usage an inventories. It contended that low-cost LiDAR scanners might be successfully conditions can considered reliable easy-to-implement tool measurements.

LiDAR Sampling Density for Forest Resource Inventories in Ontario, Canada
Over the past two decades there has been an abundance of research demonstrating the utility of airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) for predicting forest biophysical/inventory variables at the plot and stand levels. However, to date there has been little effort to develop a set of protocols for data acquisition and processing that would move governments or the forest industry towards co...

Three-dimensional scanning serves a large variety of uses. It can be utilized to generate objects for, after possible modification, 3D printing. It can facilitate reverse engineering, replication of artifacts to allow interaction without risking cultural heirlooms and the creation of replacement bespoke parts. The technology can also be used to capture imagery for creating holograms, it can sup...

Imagery-based 3D scanning can be performed by scanners with multiple form factors, ranging from small and inexpensive scanners requiring manual movement around a stationary object to large freestanding (nearly) instantaneous units. Small mobile units are problematic for use in scanning living creatures, which may be unwilling or unable to (or for the very young and animals, unaware of the need ...
متن کاملSatellite-aided survey sampling and implementation in low- and middle-income contexts: a low-cost/low-tech alternative
BACKGROUND The increasing availability of online maps, satellite imagery, and digital technology can ease common constraints of survey sampling in low- and middle-income countries. However, existing approaches require specialised software and user skills, professional GPS equipment, and/or commercial data sources; they tend to neglect spatial sampling considerations when using satellite maps; a...
متن کاملAutomated Low-cost Terrestrial Laser Scanner for Measuring Diameters at Breast Height and Heights of Forest Trees
Terrestrial laser scanner is a kind of fast, high‐precision data acquisition device, which had been more and more applied to the research areas of forest inventory. In this study, a kind of automated low‐cost terrestrial laser scanner was designed and implemented based on a two‐dimensional laser radar sensor SICK LMS‐511 and a stepper motor. The new scanner was named as BEE, which can scan the ...
